Ofte stillede spørgsmål
Are there different types of fleece materials?
Fleece, a synthetic fabric crafted mainly from polyester, is celebrated for its warmth and lightweight attributes, making it a go-to for outdoor lovers. It’s woven into a breathable, light fabric, providing substantial insulation without bulk. Here's a rundown of the different kinds of fleece you might come across:
Sherpa Fleece: This type, emulating the traditional gear of Nepal's Sherpa people, has a thick, fluffy, high-pile texture that effectively traps heat, making it perfect for cold temperatures.
Pile Fleece: Characterized by its soft, napped surface on both sides, pile fleece delivers consistent warmth and comfort and is suitable for a variety of uses.
Polar Fleece: Known for its insulating and durable properties, polar fleece is lightweight and quick-drying. It is favored as a mid-layer by those who enjoy the outdoors.
Teddy Fleece: Like Sherpa fleece but lighter, teddy fleece offers a soft and cosy texture, making it an excellent choice for sweaters and jacket linings.
Micro Fleece: This finer, lighter version of fleece is ideal for layering in milder weather, providing warmth without weighing you down, and is great for active wear due to its breathability and flexibility.
Grid Fleece: Known for its grid pattern, grid fleece excels in breathability and moisture-wicking, making it perfect for active use. It’s lightweight and excels in managing body temperature.
Each type of fleece has unique perks, ensuring you've got the perfect match for any outdoor adventure or cosy day inside.
Which fleece thickness is right for you?
When selecting the thickness of your fleece, it's important to think about the activities you plan to do and the climate you'll encounter. Fleece is available in different weights, each tailored for different uses and weather scenarios.
Lightweight Fleece: Perfect for mild conditions, lightweight fleece is thin and breathable, making it excellent for high-energy activities where you need some warmth without the risk of overheating. For lightweight options, take a look at Waffle, Essential, and Trekker.
Midweight Fleece: A midweight fleece strikes the perfect balance between warmth and breathability, versatile enough to serve as a standalone jacket in milder weather or as a mid-layer when temperatures drop. For midweight options, take a look at High Pile and Evolution.
Heavyweight Fleece: A heavyweight fleece is tailored for the coldest conditions, offering maximum warmth. It's ideal for very low temperatures or when you're less active. For heavyweight options, take a look at Sherpa and Bigfoot.
When picking the thickness of your fleece, think about what you'll be doing and the weather you'll face. Need something light for active days in mild weather? Go for a lightweight fleece. Bracing for the chill? A heavyweight fleece will keep you toasty. Always consider how your fleece will layer with other gear to get the most out of your outdoor adventures—perfect planning makes perfect outings!
What's the best way to layer a fleece jacket for outdoor activities?
Fleece jackets and sweaters are fantastic for layering! They're designed to keep you snug by trapping heat yet allowing sweat to evaporate so you stay comfortably dry during all your activities. Plus, their soft and stretchy fabric means they move with you effortlessly, no matter what the adventure throws your way!
Layering Tips for Optimal Comfort:
● Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add your fleece for insulation, and top it off with a wind- and waterproof shell for ultimate protection and warmth.
● Let your fleece jacket shine as the outermost layer in mild, dry conditions.
● Don’t shy away from doubling up mid-layers; team a fleece with a lightweight insulated jacket or gilet for superior warmth.
● Slim, lightweight fleeces are perfect for layering under other garments.
● Opt for fleeces with a brushed interior and a looser fit to trap more heat and boost warmth.
● Choose full-zip fleece jackets for quick removal and easy adjustment to suit changing conditions.
● Half-zip fleeces are excellent for adjusting airflow around your neck, ideal for ventilation during high-energy activities.
Do you carry windproof fleece jackets?
We currently don't have windproof fleece jackets in our collection. However, our available fleeces are incredibly cosy and effective at keeping you warm. For those windy days, simply layer one of our wind-resistant shell jackets over your fleece. This layering strategy gives you the flexibility to adjust according to the conditions, ensuring you stay comfortable and shielded during all your outdoor activities!
